Greetings SHAPE Members,

As SHAPE activities advance, I would like to take this opportunity to initiate the development of a community-based paper on one of the primary themes identified by SHAPE: Holocene climate dynamics: variability, transitions, tipping points, and abrupt change.

Seeing work presented at recent meetings, and being particularly familiar with work coming out of the African sector, I believe we are now in a position to a define a new, more coherent baseline for studies of Holocene climate change in the Southern Hemisphere. Considering the number of the sheer number of people involved in SHAPE, as a first step I would like to identify 1) who would like to be involved in this paper and 2) what data or information you think you could contribute. Depending on the results of this initial survey, we can organise how we would like to divide into regional working groups, and define a framework for the synthesis of information to optimise comparability.

So, if you are interested in this project, please reply to me at your earliest convenience and we will see how best to proceed.
